You need string arms for kneading

^^strong arms
They've all been eaten and actually look like real bread! I wouldn't use it for school sandwiches though as it is slightly heavier than shop bought, sliced bread and I can't cut it thin enough. My lot like fresh bread and butter with any meal and would eat it with anything if I made it for them - they could probably go through two loaves at a sitting if it was available.
I've heard of sinewy muscles, tamborine, but that is taking it too far....stringy!
You don't kneed soda bread....
used to make mine from scratch but the wrists have jinda dis-integrated. The bread machine churns out some yummy ones tho.
mine are stringy - lol

DT, I can't say I've ever noticed it in the shops where I live. Is it an Irish thing?
not necessarily - if you have a good artisan baker in the area, ask him/her.....a treat is in store if it is made well.....a little heavier, darker but a hint of saltiness/sugar.......then the cheese on top.

Or a homemade onion soup......
Soda bread is MrsC.....but you don't kneed it as such. Just need it into shape as quick as poss.
it kinda smells of beer - maybe that's the yeast but it dead yummy & fattening when served hot dripping with butter. I've seen it in Farmers Markets, usually on an irish stall.
Soda bread doesn't contain yeast....
wots the beer smell ?
I don't know....soda bread is basically. Plain flour, bran, salt, baking soda, buttermilk.
She only uses special wholemeal flour
You can do that as well...and leave the bran out.
I have done in the past, not recently though.
I do sometimes!............it's worth the effort!...........the smell of it baking and the taste is wonderful!..............
I've made bread by hand for decades. Now it's just the 2 of us I make it every other day.
