Does anyone do it? I don't mean in a machine.....I mean from scratch, kneading it by hand and all that.

My OH made a loaf this afternoon. It was scrummy!

I occasionally do, despite being a bloke. I think it's really therapeutic:)
I make my own pizza bases which are a kind of bread I supose. I try and make them as healthy as possible (wholegrain flour etc) and add herbs to the base nomnomnom.
I make bread rolls (for dunking in tomato soup) by hand as the machine doesn't make enough dough for all of my lot. Though to be fair, they are fine dunked in soup but they are not like proper bread rolls (my lot wolf them down though).

My hubby finds it therapeutic too.

Molly, what's your favourite pizza?
My bread is famous - as door stops !!!

I've had two bread machines over the last few years, but couldn't make a loaf that tasted right. They always came out like sponge cake, for some reason. :o(
Yes. It tastes so good and makes you feel so good!
Hi Mrs C - the machine we had before never produced a decent loaf but this new one is a lot better (or they have sorted out the recipes). I buy bread most of the time though as it doesn't make a loaf big enough for our daily requirements. I make fruit bread in it the most as the loaf is just the right size for the kids for their breakfast.

Now he's got more time on his hands (semi-retired) my OH has started baking. He's enjoying it.

Sherrardk, what make of machine do you have?
We bung whatevers in the cupbaord/ fridge in but the following is rather nice; tuna/ ham, sweetcorn, spring onion, pepper, peaches and pineapple. But you have to make sure you dab the pineapple and peaches with kitchen roll etc else they're too soggy. Wih lashing of mild cheese.
My DIL bakes the scrummiest soda bread that lasts me a week as I need to ration myself.
I made my own naan breads the other week...
I make soda bread as well...

Not keen on the sound of the peaches and pineapples, molls. The rest of it sounds scrummy!

I've never tasted soda bread.
I was sceptical at first but I tried it and it's quite yummy, especially fi you have a bitter cheese or side-dish to counteract the sweetness.

From scratch, ummmm, or in a breadmaker?
Hi - it's a Panasonic sd 257. It has an extra compartment for dried fruit, etc but the only time I used it the fruit didn't fall out so now I just chuck it in at the start.
From scratch...
what - no soda bread, mrs c!!!!

Do you like cheese? - a nice cheddar, a blue cheese, a goats cheese - they go brilliantly with a really good soda bread.

Go forth tomorrow, me young woman, and find yourself a loaf and with the said cheese, and great shall be your rewards in heaven.

Seriously,,,,,,!

Has every loaf been a success, sherrardk? Some of mine were better than others. None of them were particularly good though, tbh.
