Cooking beef brisket in slow cooker

I want to cook a joint of beef brisket in the slow cooker for Sunday dinner but I need advice - what should I chuck in with it? And How much liquid?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I usually put the brisket on a bed of carrots ,celery and shallots .No liquid .I'm not fond of anything cooked with alcohol .But you can slosh a bit of wine in if you like it .I never brown it first either :)
The veg will make the liquid and you get lots of gravy from the meat anyway .
Depending on the size of the joint ,I usually get one that fits a large oval slow cooker it takes about 8hours on low ,six hours on medium .
Very tasty and melt in the mouth meat .
