Cooking Beef Brisket

I've never cooked it before - I have a 3lbs joint. Would it cook well in a slow cooker and would I add anything to it?

Perfect cut for slow cooking, I only have a small slow cooker so do mine on the hob - some extra stock and onions.

Then I remove the meat and press between two plates with a weight on top.

When the stock is cold, skim off the fat - you can then make a gravy or here in the North we add 'Pot herbs' ( a good mix of veg) to make a broth.
Brown the meat, fry the onions, chuck in some carrots and swede. Add a stock cube with some beer. Throw it in the slow cooker.
Forgot to mention a table spoon of plain flour to thicken the gravy and some black pepper.

Dunno, I cook mine in the oven on low for about 3hrs.
In the slow cooker I would expect it to be 5 hours plus

Yes I, giI'll my tomput it on low and just leave it . Just a thought - why do I need to add stock? Don't normally with other joints
Brisket is a cheap cut of meat that tends to be on the tough side. Cooking it in stock makes it tender. I think it's the tastiest cut of beef.
I would pot roast this, which would be ideal for a slow cooker.

What do you mean by pot roast?
Pot roast means cooking it in stock and veggies.
If you tried to dry roast a joint for a long time, it would shrivel up to nothing.

Scorpio that recipe says to cook on high. Would you cook on high or low??
I would cook on low for 7-8 hours imo
