I froze a smoked salmon fillet on the day I bought it, and it had a sell by date of the 10th. I got it out of the freezer on Tuesday, and never got round to cooking it. Will it be ok now, or should I bin it?

It doesn't smell "off" and it's not discolored at all. Will it be ok? It's only for me, so not to worry about poisoning anyone else! :P

If it smells and feels okay eat it
The mrs says run it under cold water and pat dry if it still smells OK and is not discoloured go ahead.

Brilliant. Thanks hc! :))
Did you defrost it in the fridge?
Question Author
Oh damn. It's already in the oven. I only decided to ask on here, after I'd put it in.
Question Author
Yeah, It was in the fridge all the time.
I'll be sound then.
Not me....lol..

It'll be :-)

Lovely. Thanks very much :)
Question Author
Lol. It's ok, I knew what you meant... :)
Bon appétit!
Don't eat it!

Oh Sugar. Don't say that now! It's all gone!

Well, I had some... and left the rest out for next doors cat.
Flip, it would be absolutely fine - the best before date would only apply anyway BEFORE you froze it, once frozen you can keep it and defrost it several months after that. I eat fresh or chilled stuff which is well out of date - as long as it smells right and hasn't changed colour, it's fine.
It's quite simple, if it mings, don't eat it (you'll know if it's off).
