not as expensive as you might think em, not exactly cheap but defo not outrageously pricey for a special occasion.
been reading lots of reviews about it but just wondered if anyone here has been and what they thought.
was the food not too good then mark?
Often for lunch over the years as an old school friend has a regular table there as his offices are near by and he's in 'the Biz'.
His other 'canteen' these days is J Sheekey.
The food at the Ivy is ok if overpriced - the fun is watching the celebs 'work the room' and if I'm going to have to squeeze past someone it might as well be Gaby Roslin.
Yes, just the once, wouldn't bother going twice although it wasn't as expensive as it's pitched as being, but niether is the food so otherwordly that you really want to go again.
that's interesting mark. many of the reviews say the staff are very welcoming and friendly and not at all standoffish, but the food, whilst being good, is nothing spectacular. just about all the reviews say it's worth a visit just for the experience. much as NOX says i suppose.
I'm surprised the staff were disinterested; uninterested, maybe.
I went there a few times in my heyday: the food was okay, so was the service, and I don't think it was actually all that expensive. But nothing astounding. And I never saw a single celeb. But maybe I was only there on Laypersons' Days.
