Another year gone, and another Beaujolais Day here ... yay!

Let's all have some today. It's not so much fun if you wait until tomorrow.

I'm having a pub lunch, and bottle of Noov, with a couple of pals, and then off to Gatwick, woo hoo.

If we ask nicely, perhaps NoMercy would include some Beaujolais Nouveau in her next wine thread?

Be good, guys ... J x x x

Beaugolais.....urghhhhh!

Overrated wine, I have never had a nice bottle of nouveau yet.

It is just an pseudo upmarket event for people who know very little about wine.
I'm not a huge fan of it, but I'll look for a nice bottle and perhaps next week they'll be a mention of it... :-)
Neither am I - how to move a 30 mln litres of cheap wine quick - clever marketing though.

Chill it down - it makes it more palatable.

Now if you are talking a good Moulin-a-Vent or Brouilly, I'll be round.
Rioja...Spanish Red.

OLE! =)
hi jogger ,I can remember when Beaujolais NDay was big news now it just goes by without a comment , thanks I will look for a bottle today too we like it slightly chilled. How about you?
Some is quite good , some is rubbish, like most French wines It is only drinkable for a couple of months so by the time most Brits get it ,it is past it's best. Go for Noraq's Rioja if you can get it.

Hiyaaa ... just had a good run.

Well, that's me told, isn't it !

he he

Actually, yes ... it's nice a bit chilled.

Anyway,I like it ... being, evidently, a pseudo upmarket person, who knows nothing about wine.

how very 80s... it was an annual publicity stunt at the time but it's faded away, possibly when it dawned on people that the wine was seldom worth drinking anyway.

Having said that, I've just bought a bottle of hock when I realised I hadn't tasted any for 30 years. I may shortly be reminded why I gave it up.

Next week: the return of the Blue Nun.
If we're going all retro, I must look out for some Tiger Milk...

ha ha ...

I don't mind if if it's outdated, or even if it's rubbish ...

I just LOVE it, and think it's very jolly.

I'm going to smuggle a couple of bottles in my hold luggage, for later.

ps. anyway, we know that good or bad in wine terms is subjective.

I can't wait.

Is it lunch time yet ?????
I remember when Beaujolais Nouveau races were first introduced with all the attendant hype. What a great marketing ploy, conning the gullible public into paying good money for stuff you wouldn't put on the fence.
JJ....no! no! ...........it would taste much better if we shared a bottle at your place.........know what I mean;-),,,,??
McMouse......I would have a bottle with my Fish and Chips..........wouldn't,t drink it.....but would pour it sparingly over the chips.......;-)
-- answer removed --
lunchtime yet? Not here, no, but in Sussex, I should think so; then you need to get on with the lambing before it gets dark.
Good idea about the chips sqad. Mind you, I'd only consider using it if I'd run out of H2SO4.
Nah - stop it with the snooty pretensions - a lot of wine drinking is about time/place/atmosphere.

Beauj Noov is (often) horrible when 'tasted carefully', but slightly chilled and sloshed back in a crowded bar with some good company it's usually "the dog's bits" .... relax & enjoy xx

Dave has hit the whotnot on the head thingy ...

Slosh it back !!

Err ... "lambing" ????

In what parallel universe would I want to go near a sheep's back end?
Sqad, Do you really need to know anything about wine to enjoy a glass of wine?

Wine actually isnt about the cost or the label, I think it may have something to do with the taste!

I know very little about coffee, I still enjoy a few cups a day.
the taste of BN Ratter? That's why it went out of fashion.
