Will do a ham cooked in coke at some stage, but don't want to ruin/alter too much the Christmas one. I eat really badly but I am looking forward to the ham (could quite easily forget about Christmas dinner but everyone else likes it).
Apparently a marmalade glaze is nice on ham or gammon. There are quite a few recipes on the internet.
Maple syrup is nice.
After cooking the joint, Cover the entire joint with mustard then sprinkle brown sugar over the mustard. Roast for 20 mins uncovered
I do sometimes cook ham or gammon in Coke. It makes it nice and tender and you don't taste the Coke. You could then glaze it with red currant jelly and put it in a very hot oven for the last 30 minutes. The other glazes suggested so far are also delicious! I've tried most of the ones mentioned. Yummm!
Don't forget, you can also cook your gammon in cider or...as i often do, ginger beer.
maple syrup and apricot puree
Daughter in law always does her ham joint in cider - yummy - teeth watering now, roll on Christmas day.
