I have just had a tidy up under the stairs where I keep my wine. Much to my surprise I have found Red Wind bottles dated 1996.

How long can you keep Red Wine before it has to be drunk?

Is this wine still drinkable??

Many thanks for your help.

In answer to how long can you keep red wine. Me personally no time at all! Realistically some wines are good for many years and others made to be drunk quickly like Beaujolais Nouveau. You will have to open it and taste it. I will be available any time later to help!
Depends on the wine - some improve with age, some go off fairly quickly.

Only way to find out if it is drinkable is to try it.

If you post the brand/type or whatever someone may be able to speculate on your particular bottles
Only one way to find out really..................
In a sealed bottle I'm unsure there is a limit. They are removing bottles from long sunk ships and trying them aren't they ? That said I'm unsure the taste would be up to much, but must be worth a try.
Agree with Andrew.....sup it an see!
There is no problems with red wine, most white wine should be drunk within 10 years normally.
I'm sorry I have not got a clue about Red Wind Bottles though.Best advice I can give is smell them first
what is on the label.....

then comes the question of where it has been kept and in what temperature (range)....

let us know and there are a few who can comment......
It won't kill you, but it might not be very nice by now. It will depend on the quality of the wine (the great wines can take 20+ years before they should be drunk, and can still be excellent after 50+ years) and how it was stored (standing up in a room with temperature changes is not ideal).

Open it, test a little, and then be prepared to let it breath for 2-3 hours after decanting
