Sticky toffe pudding

Does anyone have a fool proof recipe for sticky toffe pudding that doesn't involve using dates? Vile things.

You liquidise them in my recipe. Is it the texture or taste you don't like?

I make Delia's without the dates and use pecans instead. It works every time and they can be frozen ahead of time. The toffee sauce lasts for weeks in the fridge in a jar.

Both angel. They are just gross. I've bought them from tesco before and the mini ones are made without them but the multiple serving ones are packed with them, could never understand why.

Is that one easy to do vodka? I wouldn't replace the dates with anything but I'm sooooo useless in the kitchen.

Vodka: Delia's recipe does have dates in. It's the first ingredient listed?

Yep and I said to Evian to not use them as when I make it I also omit the dates and use pecans instead. :)

Oh, ok. I think I'll try it without the dates too as my lot aren't keen on dates. Does it still have a similar texture without the dates or does it taste quite different?

It looks more like creamed cake mix rather than the sloppy mess made using the dates. They don't turn out as moist as they do when using the dates but it's a great excuse to add loads more butterscotch sauce to them lol :)
