When I make a marie rose sauce it is usually quite thick. I use tomato ketchup, mayo, lemon juice and sometimes a dash of worcestershire sauce.

However I would like to thin it a bit and wondered if I could just use water or does anyone have any other ideas for a thinner sauce?

Thanks.

Add a little hot water to thin it down.
skimmed milk is ok
Some plain yoghurt might do it.
A touch of cold water usually does the trick for me and give it a good whisk.
I use single cream
I use double cream and whip it VERY lightly, add ketchup, lemon, worcestershire and tobasco. I find mayo too claggy.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone.

Not worried about calories strawberryfields. As vodkancoke said, it can just sometimes be a bit to claggy for me so I wanted to try a thinner sauce.

I used less mayo and added some water as EcclesCake and Dickythecook suggested and it was really nice.
