I am thinking of replacing my m/wave with a combi-oven - any thoughts - suggestions - pros/cons - ease of use etc would be much appreciated - I must admit I don't have much patience when it comes to RTFM

RTFM?
Question Author
reading the flipping manual !
Hi- I have had one for about 4 months. I find it too complicated to use properly. The first 73 pages of the booklet that came with it are instructions. I have used the grill ok and the microwave part but the only thing I have braved 'cooking' in it are jacket potatoes and it was a faff and they didn't come out the same way as they would have done in the oven.

Oh heck Sherr - hopefully if we hear from a few more folk it might help both of us - cross fingers

I do miss not have an emoticon list such as are available on other forums l
I have one mojay, and I love it. If you want to do something small in the oven, you can without heating the massive oven. I am a technophobe, so if I can use it, anybody can!
If I were you I'd access the latest Which? test on them and look for the Best Buys that are "easy to use". you'd be surprised at just how much they differ in this respect.
I love mine, so much more economical to use than full size oven. For small things to cook or heating up brilliant. I would buy another if mine broke. Once you know how to use it you will love it. By the way my one is really easy to use not at all complicated.

Sasskins and futritcat - would you mind saying which versions you have - I'd prefer that to doing the Which equiv of RTFM

pretty please :)
I'm on my 2nd convection oven. The 1st one lasted nearly 10 years. I highly recommend them and they are easy to use and reasonably priced. They are also cheaper than putting on the big oven. They also have a defrost button. I wouldn't be without mine and when this one is no longer working I will buy another one.!
I've had mine for over two years now, find it really easy to use, it's great for small amounts of food, and much quicker for roasting and grilling than my large oven............

thanks guys - I shall google tomorrow - I've recently downsized into sheltered housing - and a large oven for one fishcake or similar - seems crazy
Hi mojay I have panasonic you will love it no matter which one you buy good luck. Be sure to let us all know how you get on.
'flipping' eh ? That's polite ;-)

I shall be interested in this thread as my combi seems to have problems with it's microwave paart. I always thought they'd either work of not, but it seems to be losing power, and the food needs longer in it :-( Must be time for a new one soon.
i'll have to have a look at the make of mine, but since i broke the oven i've been using this for about 2 years now and its fantastic.

i only ever use the oven or microwave i found the grill wasn;t even enough (and the grill on the oven still works). the only down side for me is that the highest temp is 200oc. other than that is great and a cook a roast most weeks :-)

haha yes OG - but this is terminology my sons use - so I guessed most folk would understand :lol
Ive just bought a panasonic nnct569m after researching on Which. Its one of their best buys, but by no means one of the most expensive. I found it for £169.99 but then went to the merchant via topcashback for 2% cashback on the purchase. Ive never had one before either but my mum & dad absolutely sing the praises of theirs every time we go for dinner! Hope Im as happy with mine when it arrives.
Ours is brilliant, we use it all the time in preference to our cooker. We don't use the grill function but the convection oven heats up quickly, cooks evenly, and the food is on a turntable so you don't get cold spots. We defrost, microwave - I wouldn't be without it.
