just got back from ikea with a whirlpool combi oven,i thought was a normal grill/oven,until we got home and opened and its smaller than a standard oven in length, was going to take it back but i want to know how it works,is it an actual oven or glorified microwave??
so does it cook with heat,or micro-waves,have you got one are they any good?ive packaged it back up so haven't got item number to google and find out more, thanks.are they a new thing?
Either or both. they can work as a standard fan oven, a microwave or a combination of the two which is meant to give you the speed of a microwave and the browning of an oven or grill.
they have been about ages, I have an old one which gets used more than my proper oven as it's more economical for me (living alone) to use that rather than heating up the main, much larger, oven.
no it is much more than a microwave and grill. It also has another convection oven - what you have in the main kitchen your big main oven - it is similar to that.
1. microwave
2. grill
3. convection oven
Hold on to it - they are brilliant I would not be without one. It is great (convection oven) for heating pies and baking small things without having to use more power than necessary for same thing in your big oven. Also your pies are nice and crisp instead of being soggy from microwave. You will get used. I have had 4 now and everytime I go back for the same thing. Good luck!
yeh with a little boy and fussy hubby i thnk ill stick with what i know,in this day i cant afford to be wastin food on stuff that might not be cooked proper.thanks everyone!back to ikea we go!!
pinky - you just press convection button and up comes temperature as in main oven press it - then up comes up time and you insert time - exact as in main oven. You will regret it.
so will i be able to cook a full roast dinner tho it doesn't look very big inside, and its not the microwaves that cook it but real heat? sorry for all the questions just have no idea what the bloody thing is or does!!
I use one. It's fine. Only problem is I use the normal oven for the main item, then want to use the micro to heat something up to go with it and then realise I can't use the plastic container I'd normally use because it'd melt in the now hot oven.
Oh and the first time I used it I was confused and managed to put both conventional and micro on at once, thinking the micro knob was a timer. Result a hard baked spud, and a black mark on the plate I never did get off.
It's as big as the one you buy is. If a full roast fits then it fits, if it doesn't then it doesn't. If you turn the conventional oven on you get real heat just like a conventional oven. If you turn the microwave oven control instead it microwaves. If you turn both on you get interesting results.
I knew that would come up re my having 4 - I use them so much. Then when I get fed up with newness i pass them down to my relatives who still have them as well
