I am trying to cut out bread and potatoes but enjoy my slice of toast and honey in the mornings. Is Ryvita a better alternative as bread tends to make my tum bloated ?

It depends whether you like eating petrified cardboard. If I were you, I'd stick to the bread and buy a pair of slacks.

Ryvita is the definitive crispbread. I always have a packet in and have enjoyed it since I was a small boy in the 50s. What I like about it is that if you are feeling virtuous you can spread butter thinly on the smoother side, but if you are feeling naughty you can fill all the little dimples with butter on the other side. My only complaint is the price; last packet I bought was 99p, 5 years ago it was only 45p.
Ryvita? Cheaper and probably indistinguishable to eat cardbord.
You could try wheat and yeast free rye bread-available in Tesco's and some health food shops.
OK, so I'm the only one on this planet who likes Ryvita. Do I qualify for government assistance as a persecuted member of a minority group?
How about switching to porridge with a dot of honey for breakfast.
Normally, its people who cannot tolerate gluten but you could be reacting to bread made by modern methods. If you have time, try baking your own using either wholemeal or wholemeal mixed with white flour. Baked in the traditional way it might not be so bloating.
I love Ryvita, and if ever I feel bloated from bread or pasta that's what I have and it works for me :)
Hallellujah! I'm not alone!
Ryvita!....just like eating cardboard!..........bread is fine in moderation!......I would never ever eat Ryvita!..........tried it once!...........enough!.....
Actually the new flavoured Ryvitas are not cardboard at all, I can eat the chilli one on its own.
Mike - I just LOVE Ryvita and have it for lunch every day - I'm an addict! I love the plain brown rye ones with either marmite or cottage cheese on, or just tomato and cucumber on them if I'm on a diet - or my very favourites are the Fruit Crunch ones (with currants in) with butter and mashed banana on - scrummy! I can't tolerate bread very well, but these are fine for me! Yes they are very pricey now the currant ones are £1.45 a packet now ....
What is V bread? Does Ryvita make bread now?
ooh ann they are my faves. Lovely just on their own with a cuppa too x
Try Kracker wheat,it not quite as bad as Ryvita.
I think the V stands for versus. The OP is trying to establish the merits of Ryvita as against bread.
LOL mike - I see it now! V for versus ...... doh -must be my age!! :))
Hi smurfchops, I'm dieting too and suffer from the worst bloat and wind so have cut out bread and lowered my carbs and have started using wholemeal pasta and rice in small portions and as i love my toast and couldn't cut it out a friend recomended gluten free bread which doesn't give me any bloat so you can have your toast and eat it!
Good luck with your diet.
I love my Cracked Black Pepper Ryvita which I have for lunch about 3 times a week. Ryvita nowadays is much tastier than the original version.
