Why, when the sun comes out does half the population decide they want to cook lunch outside, with all the hassle and cleaning up afterwards that comes with it? Why not just cook some food in the kitchen and bring it outside? So much easier and simpler.

Just for the record, another thing I hate is going to a BBQ and they haven't any decent food to cook, only cheap greasy burgers and sausages.

It's so easy to make burgers and kebabs and the smell and taste is so much better
Cheap crappy burgers and sausages just set fire to your barbie, why people automatically think you need burgers and sausages god only knows.
Yesterday I had fish kebabs and pears coked in red wine and sugar.
Note to self: try to wangle an invite to MT's next barbecue.
I love bbq's but my dad has a way of making them pointless.

He half cooks everything in the oven then takes it out to the BBQ to finish it off. I do always feel like he might as well just leave it in the oven.

I built my new BBQ at the weekend. As it cost £7 I will be surprised if the whole thing doesn't melt the minute I light it.
I find the problem with disposable barbeques is that they're the very devil to clean for use next time!! ;-)
Whole fresh herrings and sardines, vegetable kebabs... a whole salmon... spiced lamb burgers and some marinaded pork steaks with skewers of fruit with melted marshmallows for dipping... God I want a garden again

It makes me a bit sad when you see a load of cheap crap on a BBQ. A good burger is definitely worth it though.
a lashfords sausage is worth putting on as well
"and pears coked in red wine and sugar"

interesting way of cooking pears
but i love a bbq. whole slow cooked leg of lamb is a beaut and mackeral

mmmmmmmmm

i like a good suasage and burger but noen of that cheap crap thanks

and Dave why are you so down on everything, does anything make you smile
Best trout I ever tasted was caught, gutted and cooked on the BBQ all within 15 minutes. Someone else was doing it though. Wouldn't do it myself, more of the cook indoors and eat outdoors type unless camping.
'what is the point of barbeques'

to pee off the neighbours with the awful smell and smoke on a lovely sunny day lol lol

i'm not bothered by the smell but the smoke engulfs the garen, now that really pees me off. grrrrrrr
^^garden^^
we used to make sure we did ours on the same nights as the neighbours
thats very sensible rowanwitch and thoughtful, unfortunately some people are selfish and think we all like to smell like a smoked kipper.
flump off fluffy. .....always picking on me :0(
They used to comment on the smells rosemary, thyme, lemongrass, sage and lavender in the smoke at various times also lots of citrus peel when cooking fish
