Prob not in the right category but here goes.
A few days ago I was reading a piece in the paper about what time people eat their main meal of the day. Apparently the 'civilised' folk eat as late as poss - even after 10 p.m..
Personally that wouldn't do for me at all - my stomack would think my throat had been cut.
Depends on if at work or not and what else may be on that evening, but usually between 6 and 7.
Just interested what time do other ABers eat.
Late, it's the wrong way to do it but I always eat last thing at night, the reason I fell into this pattern is because I cant eat and then go for a few beers, so I have a few beers and then eat.
Usually around 20h - that way we watch the evening news whilst eating. If we eat out that could be as late as 21h. At weekends when my husband is home we have lunch about 13h30 (on a Saturday it is highly likely we will go to a restaurant in town after shopping and market), then in the evening have a lightish meal : bread and cheese or soup.
we eat as a family at about 6.30, however at weekends or if we have friends for dinner it can be slightly earlier or quite a bit later but never after 8 (that's when I eat my mints!)
We usually always eat about 5:30pm ish. I don't like to eat after 6pm unless we are eating out or it's a special occasion. I think I would be up all night with indigestion if I ate a big meal at 10pm!!
I get home from work at 6.30 so we usually eat between 7 and 7.30. I guess if neither of us were at work it would be a bit earlier but that's a rare occurence!
When our children were young we always had set mealtimes, but now we eat whenever we feel like it and I just keep some for the kids to warm up when they come in if they're not at home. We like to eat late if - as we were yesterday - we're doing some work on the house or in the garden until 9/10pm and then have a few beers and a tasty supper afterwards.
Hey, that means I'm civilised!!! Never been called that before and I really don't think I ever will be again.
Usually round about 6pm - then I have to start work at 7pm three nights and its become a habit because of that! Plus we have a 2 year old and it suits us all, as its nice to sit down together as a family for our evening meal, and its still in good time before she goes to bed.
The rest of the family eat quite late: around 10pm- ish, but I started a diet where I cannot eat later than 7pm (so you burn the food off by the time you go to sleep). I think that living in such a warm country accounts for eating so late.
I was under the impression that the later you eat, the more likely you'd be to put on weight, having less time for food to be burnt off. There's probably not many of us who go for an after dinner stroll either to use up the calories.
I used to go to Weight Watcher and at one of our meetings we were told it doesn't matter what time you eat cause you're still burning calories off in your sleep - presumably from all the tossing (easy!) and turning you do!
Perhaps the WW leader meant *before* you go to sleep!!
