A robust and concentrated red with hypnotic aromas red fruits, dark chocolate and a hint of toffee, leading to rich flavours of red cherries and mocha on the palate. This gorgeous Italian number has silky, soft tannins, oodles of finesse and superb length. Try with soft, creamy cheeses such as brie or mascarpone, or a warm goats cheese and toasted hazelnut salad.
Armador 2008, a Syrah from the Maipo Valley in Chile, (paid 7-95) full of figs, blackcurrants, clove overtones with vanilla and a smoky background, full bodies and top end of strawberries, a little acidity - and not bad in composing daft poetry on the Whats in a Real Man thread or something like that.
Sounds lovely but I try not to to spend any more than £5 pounds a bottle but as I have visitors coming might be tempted but then one bottle is not enough!
For £7.29 I could get a gallon of Kadarka.
A full bodied and enormously endowed corpulent little number, there is an aggressive hint of a rusty scaffold pole ...... with overtones of alka- seltzer in the non too distant future.
It's a very decent wine for the price DT - get it up to room temperature, decant it into a jug to 'open' it a bit, and the full flavour of the tempranillo is there.
Not a huge blockbuster of a wine (13.5%), but no weakling either.
