Can anyone settle an argument please. I have been speaking to a friend on the phone and she was telling me about a soup recipe. Apparently she always fries bay leaves before adding them to whatever she is cooking. To me, this seems wrong. Any thoughts?

Personally I just break them in half and add them to whatever I'm cooking. I have never heard of frying them though.

I'll ring her back and tell her she is odd lol
You can fry sage leaves, basil leaves and soft herb leaves but I don't see the point in frying a bay leaf! I could be very wrong though...I usually am! :)
It's not that unusual when cooking Indian recipes but I can't say I've come across it beyond that.
Ive never heard of frying a bay leaf either.
