I was just going to knock up some lemon curd, but all the recipes I have call for golden caster sugar or unrefined caster sugar. Given that I cba to go to the supermarket, will bog standard caster sugar do? Failing that I have demerara.

It'll be fine.
....with bog standard caster.
Yes Barmaid -I always use caster sugar with no problems what-so-ever.
Yes, I make it with regular caster sugar BM.

lol thank you eccles.

Although after the macaroon disaster and the bread disaster I am thinking of opening a bottle and saying "sod it". Mind you, the cake looks good.

You'll make a mess of it :-)

Thank you Ummmm...... I think.
You could get pissed now and/or turn tomorrow into a Champagne Tea and get the guests pissed so that they don't notice the bread/macaroons. Make sure the cake is on parade nice and early for them to admire though!
Just dont let me take care of the champagne : )
I can do that. I know to take care of Champagne :-)

Two of them don't drink. At all (how we are related, I shall never know). SO that plan is doomed to failure.

lol, it's not going well. I just put some hazelnuts under the grill to toast and nipped outside to collect the eggs. Then I got distracted. Next thing, fire alarm is going off.........
BM, just get your coat on and come up here, I'm attempting chicken curry, rice and naaan bread, you're more than welcome xx
I think you need to lie down in a darkened room!
I told you earlier to give up, drink wine, and chill :-)
sounds like you're enjoying life,Barmaid!
please review your knocking up lemon curd bit :-D
It is a rule of the kitchen that the first batch of nuts MUST be burnt......
Question Author
lol, you lot make me laugh

Well the lemon curd looks and tastes surprising good. However the SECOND set of hazelnuts are confined to the bin.

I walked in the kitchen to see Mr BM at my work station swearing "effing teatowels everywhere" (ONE). As I shouted "no", he grabbed the TT that I had wrapped the hazelnuts in to rub off the skins and shook it. Nuts every fekkin where. How I didn't slap the silly sod I shall never know.
