Is it ok to make soup without cream? Does it taste watery?

I have lots and lots (and lots) of veg, so I was thinking this would be a good idea to use it up.

What soups can be made without cream, does anyone do this?

Virtually any, if you don't have premade stock then use cubes, season well and it won't be watery. x

In the freezer for tomorrow? It would be just fine in the refrigerator. Freezer for long-term use.

Fresh thyme gives soup a lovely flavour.
Mr.C has some home-made soup cooking in the slow cooker at the moment.

He's put in carrots, onions, cabbage, pearl barley, red lentils, peas, chicken stock (home-made) and the remains of the braised-beef and gravy from tonight's tea.

Smells lovely.

I made four containers up, so I'll use one tomorrow.
Yeah, I should have just put one in the fridge, but I wasn't sure what I was doing tomorrow night.

Thanks for the tip. I will have to keep coming back to this thread and having a look :-)

Right. That's enough of soup now! :))
ermm...if you are having it tomorrow, then there is no need to freeze.
And I'll stick my tuppence into the canned into homemade war....never! A stock cube-yes...but I don't get the point of adding tinned **** (my opinion)* to something that is fresh.

*it's all full of salt, and even sugar-plus stabilisers and whatever.
Just remembered something else I sometimes add to my soups....a tin of tomatoes.
Question Author
Yeah, I know. I realise that now :-)

Totally agree. Canned soup in homemade soup just sounds wrong.
Thanks for the tip. I will have to keep coming back to this thread and having a look :-)

Testing
....but tastes lovely. :o)

haha. I think there should be an option to close a thread...
Tinned toms never (all those seeds, yuk), passatta maybe according to my recipe.
I agree MM. This is making me feel a bit icky now :o(
Just don't click on it, Mazie. Sorted. :o)
Question Author
Or.... stop talking about adding tins. Sorted :-)
Nooooo......if it's what I do, then why not?
Question Author
Errrrrrr..... because it's my thread, and it's not what I'm asking.

:-)
Errr....I think the question was "Is it okay to make soup without cream?".

Discussion about what one adds to their soup is no bad thing, surely?

Last posting from me anyway - my friend throws a tin of chopped tomatoes into her stew - absolutely scrumptuous - she gave me a bowl one day and I knew there was something "different" and it was the tomatoes - some say tomatoes some say tomaytoes. But here goes - sorry if I offended but I do try to be a bit light-hearted - it is on a drop of soup - ooops here goes
meant to say it is only a drop of soup we are talking about not life or death.
I will definitely buy some condensed soup Conne, and give it a try. Think it's a great idea.
I add a can of chopped tomatoes in when I make lentil soup. It's really good.
