Need some ideas for tasty, light meals and snacks that are suitable in this hot weather. I don't vary my own diet much and I am having trouble thinking what a 'normal' person might like. Thanks.

Raspberries and ice-cream!
Light stuff. Rice salads. Lettuce.

Contrary to popular belief, curry can actually help to cool you down.

It's for himself, trying to tempt him!
Does he eat fish?
I'm guessing you are looking for light offerings to tempt himself into eating?

What are his favourite foods, does he like like spicy stuff or more herby stuff?

If you asked him what his three favourite dishes were what would he say?

He eats anything except liquorice and blancmange. He seems to be favouring small portions of cold food at the moment.
Poach/grill a small salmon steak, let it go cool & have it with a bit of cous cous (or potato salad) and some frozen peas and a spot of mayo.
Salmon and noodles.

Prawn cocktail with avocado (dated but nice)

Baked potatoes with fillings.

Ideal would be what I call a snacky plate, rather like a mini buffet.

Some cold meats, chucks of cheese, slices of pork pie etc, add in some salad veg chopped up and dips or pickles , maybe some crusty bread.
What about dippy things...

taramasalata, hummus, mackerel pate served with crudités or bread.

high protein foods and easy to eat at your own pace.
^ chunks , having a bad eye day
I'm totally unconvinced by this claim eating or drinking hot things in hot weather cools one down. I sweat more than enough in the sun as it is. Encouraging more simply isn't going to help, and since I would be doing so by making myself even hotter than I had been, well the logic just doesn't follow.

Im unsure I've ever met a normal person, but I suspect in the hot weather they'd prefer cold foods to hot. Fruit, ice creams, chilled drinks. Potato salad, maybe with cold slices of ham & sweetcorn ? Ploughman's lunch with lots of pickle ? Barrel of cold beer ? Sandwiches. Cold buffet stuff. Or maybe folk don't feel much like eating in this hot weather anyway.
sorry, I didn't realise it was for himself.....

I must admit my eating is eccentric in hot weather. I have a couple of cold sausages in the fridge, I might eat those. Nothing organised.

I like the sunny-dave's menu, that's tempting.
Yes dippy things are good, add some olives and pitta to the plate and he can pick at it as he feels inclined.

Thank you all - mostly all things I won't/don't eat. If I feel I can leave him I will pop to Sainsburys in the morning.
