On of Mr BM's mates is having a bit of a tough time, so I am cooking him supper tonight (as Mr BM said, only to make his misery complete).

What is good "Man food" - apart from the ubiquitous steak. He's got one hell of an appetite too.

Sounds like any sort of comfort food would do the trick!
Lamb shanks, pork belly, curry, pie. xx
This is Ginges answer...

Starter - ribs with salad (lots of tomatoes)

Main - Steak with onion rings, chips, mushrooms, tomatoes, peas and a fried egg.

Pudding - cheese cake with ice cream.
steak and kidney pudding - proper steamed - mash, carrots, nary a green veg in sight
Prawns in a spicy bread crumb coating with curry mayo and sweet chili dips.
Kleftikon, buttery mash, roasted onions and mange tout.
Syrup sponge and custard.

Lay another place.....

Hmmmm, I think Prawns as a starter is a good one - I've got a massive bag of whole prawns.

I really like the idea of Kleftiko, but having just googled it I learn that it was developed by the Greeks during the Turkish occupation. Our guest is Turkish. lol

I shall ask the boss when he returns as to what might be appropriate.
Oh, and crudite..... all men like a bit of that!
Its just a gloopy lamb shank really but once eaten, forever hooked.
if not steamed pud for mains, then either that or pie for afters, custard a must here
mezes... hundreds of mezes... of course, you should have started on Tuesday.
Call it a 'souris d'agneau'......

... but seriously, any problem with the ubiquitous steak plus whatever trimmings he might like? Quick enough to prepare, so it leaves you time to pour your whole being into a fancy dessert.
meatballs
keep it simple. mixed grill. and crumble for pudding .
Get the BBQ out and do some lamb and chicken shish kebabs in pittas with salad and dips. Turks (and Turkish Cypriots) are notorious for BBQs and kebabs. I should know ;o)
oh and don't forget to give him a doggy bag of goodies.
