Tea breads and sweet dough are the theme this week. And looking at the clip it will be a heated competition between the traditional and modern.

They do all look yummy though I have to say....

Ed, has GBBO encouraged you to get your pinny on and get into whisking, beating, creaming and kneading or is purely an armchair pursuit?

If the former can we have photographic evidence? Perhaps Boo would consider judging your efforts???

Sadly, as yet I have not had time
Damn it, I was looking forward to the pic of a gnome in a pinny clutching his batch of buns!

if boo was involved do you think there would of been enough time to take pictures?

A photo of Triggs clutching his buns would suffice..........
just not his cobbler
I'm hoping to be watching if I can stay awake (bad chest infection and hardly any sleep for days makes for a tired, grumpy Eve).

We should have a cake based AB meet up haha, I vote Patisserie Valerie in Manchester...mmmmmm......
For the unacquainted...or those you just want to salivate...

We have 2 of those in Edinburgh Eve. Their cakes are lushness :)
They are, I get quite mesmerised just walking past the window, which I thankfully don't have to every day anymore after changing work site.

My friend took me for afternoon tea there for my birthday, spoilt for choice! I always think the glazed fruit tarts look amazing.
Ha, maybe I should come up and sample Edinburgh's, stay for more than a whistlestop visit between trains :)
Thanks for the link Eve, I have just discovered we have a Patisserie Valerie in Bournemouth. I will now make it my mission to seek it out and test it's wares :-)

Morning all,

Sorry I missed your comments yesterday and was this what you had in mind Eccles:

what did you think of Howard leaving. I felt he had reached a level like Rob did last week.
Mind you I did think Glen was for the high jump, skin of his teeth.

However, Ruby star baker again do we spot a winner?
I was sad to see Howard go though I think he had reached a level, I did think that Glen would go though as he doesn't seem to be as serious in a preparation and dedication kind of way as Howard was. I always though it was quite sweet how he and Christine (I think?) had their little chats while cooking.

I do like Ruby and I'm glad she got it this week. She does seem to have a very natural knack which I imagine may not go down so well with some of the other more traditional bakers :)
Mary Berry is on This Morning this morning if anyone wants to watch it, think she is on pretty soon if you want to catch her.
