When Do You Put The Lid On A Casserole?

I'm following a recipe for a sausage casserole and need some friendly advice. I've done everything and was just about to put it in the oven as per instructions but I have no idea if I'm supposed to put the lid on it or not. Any ideas please before Mrs Myriad comes home to no supper.

Lid on now
I put the lid on straight away.
I'd get it up to the boil and stick it in the oven with the lid on.
now, and don't take it off

Lid off, you'll get a skin on the gravy. But it should stir in and so disappear before serving
