Will you please put me out of my misery and tell me what is so heinous about a pizza?

To my mind a pizza is little more than a fancy cheese on toast with extra toppings of your choosing.

I genuinely don't understand why it should be reviled so.

Pizza in a decent pizza restaurant is okay. Takeaway pizza is a soggy mess.

The former, with salad and sides is acceptable.

I would eat a frozen pizza from the supermarket...

Redman and Baldric both 'fessed up yesterday to disliking pizza. I have a very fussy friend who doesn't like it either but has never adequately explained her dislike.

The evilness of the like of Dr Oetker I can understand but a freshly cooked one, I honestly don't know what there is to dislike.

Tomato puree is the problem really - brings out an allergy. Ditto anchovies. The latter are avoidable but I've yet to encounter one without the yucky red gunge

Proper pizza - thin and Italian style - is delicious. All these inventions (deep pan with the rim stuffed with chilli, bleah) are not the real thing.

A really softly cooked onion and thyme base is fantastic for a pizza bianco for the non tomato eaters.
