Problem is I would buy half a bottle meaning to drink half of it...after the first half I would probably think s*d it, let's drink the rest!! Thus drinking twice as much as if I had a quarter bottle in the first place - well I know what I'm on about anyway...
I've always wondered this too.
I have come to a very sad conclusion (sad in that I have actually given this a lot of though). You would need to pour all of the vodka (from the half bottle) into a measuring jug (before you have drunk any), then pour half of the amount back into the bottle and mark it. You could then pout the rest of the vodka back in and you would know how much is half.
What always gets me is that if you have what you think is enough in the bottom of the bottle for one more drink, when you pour it it's actually a dribble. The shape of the bottom of the bottle is deceiving and when you think you have enough for one more drink, you haven't. Hoe it's not just me that does that.
Just save 3 empty quarter bottles and then buy a full bottle of the stuff.. you can get a plastic funnel for about 10p, fill each of the bottles and you'll have a quarter bottle left in the big bottle.
when you've drunk the quarter bottle, hide the others in different places for next time..ooh what fun ;)
