It is a mixture of salt, cornflour and browning along with other flavourings which one adds to meat juices and/or stock to thicken, colour and enrich gravy.
It is a predecessor to Bisto granules and - like Bisto - is totally unnecessary but more convenient than making gravy from scratch.
