I'm not much for loading it either.
Best way to unload the dishwasher?

D-I-V-O-R-C-E....
Random for me but it is my most hated job in the kitchen for some reason.
Eccles has said it all here...just common sense.

But who loads knives into the cutlery basket, with the blades pointing up ? This drives me mad, as its so dangerous.
That drives me insane too Mikey, everything does in pointing down. A woman was killed a few years ago after falling into an open dishwasher, the bottom drawer was pulled out and knives where pointing upwards. I don't put sharp knives in the cutlery bit, they go on the shelf on top of the cups, or failing that, they get handwashed.
Always bottom first. I am happy to load but find unloading extremely tedious. That's my son's job when he's here.
I know it's extravagant, but I love the idea I read about a journalist who said he had two dishwashers, so he never needed to unload. He just takes things out of one dishwasher as he needs them, and gradually fills the other as the things get dirty. Great idea, I think.
I never put my good knives into the dishwasher because it ruins them. Any forks and stabby things that do go in go in stabby bits down.
