Wine Of The Week

It's been a while ... which doesn't mean I've been on the wagon ... oh no ... not at all. I've been working selflessly to find new wines for you lot :+)
I've found a new mail order supplier - ordered a couple of mixed cases and these are the highlights :
Dacastello Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2011
Extraordinary value at £4.99 - I've taken the precaution of ordering a case before alerting the AB oenophiles.
Soft, fruity - great with pasta or olives & cheese & nibbles.

Tenuta Olim Bauda Barbera d'Asti 'La Villa'
I came across this in a posh restaurant and thought it decent value at £25. Here it's just over a tenner - astonishing value for one of the best Italian reds I've had in ages. Full bodied (but not tannic) and loads of exotic fruity flavours. Great with strongly flavoured meat dishes - or perhaps with pizza.

Golden Grape Prosecco
Soft, gentle Italian fizz - just 'off dry' - at £6.99 what's not to like? Lovely as an aperitif or with sticky puddings or to wash the cheese course down. Bargain.
