really stupid pointless question i know but just a debate im having with someone. do americans have jam doughnuts like us english or just ring doughnuts?
I'm not sure what you mean by "jam doughnuts", but we do have filled rolls that are made of doughnut dough. They come in many different flavors, including cream filled and a variety of what we call "jelly". They are about the size of a regular doughnut, but with the middle intact. There are also different shapes, including Bismarcks, but they are still made of the same recipe... I suspect it's probably the same idea...
ok i'll try and make it simple for you lot,,,in england we have jam doughnuts right? so do americans(regardless of wot they call em) have them too or dont they??...simple question really. to be honest i dont really care,,it was just a simple question.
We have filled donuts as well as the ring-shaped ones. Besides jam, they can be filled with Bavarian creme, lemon, chocolate, butterscotch...just about any flavor. And Squdqueen is correct - there's no donut in the world better than a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme!
Just a quick item to point out: We Americans have jam and jelly. They are different here. Jelly is much more gelatinous and has less whole fruit. Jam is less gelatinous and frequently more natural. But we fill our donuts (because we do have 'em!) with jelly... not jam. And for the record, jam donuts, in my experience, are WAY more delicious...
