Tomato And Basil Soup

Can I cheat and use a tin of chopped tomatoes/plum tomatoes? My recipe says to roast 8 really ripe tomatoes. Could I substitute a tin instead.......no skins to faff about with.

Would it work?

Thanks for that old geezer, I often put the bananas from shopping in with other fruit when I'm in a hurry, come in later and all my lovely fresh fruit is almost rotten

Pasta, a soup maker because I don't like all that messing about with hot liquids and blenders.

One pot cooking is much easier. (I am lazy, probably!)

I haven't a clue how a soup maker works, just as I see your answer tilly, does the soup maker blend the soup also, I use pots and blenders, having been the main cook all my life, I don;t believe there is a 'one pot' meal,there is always some washing up to do along the line

Ean, the soupmaker does blend the soup. You can set it to do smooth or chunky.
The washing up is minimal.

Tinned toms would be perfect, might need to a add a little sugar to taste though, sounds silly but tinned toms can be a little sharp in a soup :-)
