I love smoothies and I make them often. In a recipe using beetroot, should the beetroot be raw or cooked??

The recipes don't make it quite clear.

And what's your fave smoothie??

Most of the recipes seem to use raw beets. One that I found, said "either raw or roasted".
I use raw

Thanks for this, I have bought some uncooked beets!
What else do you put in it with the beetroot?
I'd suggest rather than raw or cooked, non-existent would be best.
I can hardly think of anything more revolting. Beetroot is foul.
Yuck .......beetroot devils food
Adore beetroot but would rather eat it than drink it - not a fan of the smoothie over all.
"Beetroot is foul"...personal opinion, of course. Lots of people love it (me included).

I made a beetroot, ginger, carrot, few leaves of Kale and used coconut water and orange juice to give it sweetness. It was delish.

Beetroot is one of the most versatile and delicious vegetables - as long as it doesn't go anywhere near malt vinegar.
