We're having chicken salad to atone for the Indian takeaway and two bottles of plonk we scoffed and quaffed last night.

I'm sure to have food envy throughout this thread....

I have a most enjoyable and interesting life, JD. It's my fortieth next week and we're having a party. My mother has just given me £10k. My boyfriend has just booked us a holiday to Reykjavik, Boston and Martha's Vineyard in May and he's paid for it. My boss heaped praise upon me earlier today. Where did it all go so right? :)

How goes life for you, sweetie?
A sad life is one where you swoop on a thread just to be nowty.

I didn't have a clue but have now realised I too have some cooked roast beef in the freezer, a roast dins it is then.
Potato, cheese and onion pie in the oven as we speak. Smells wonderful and making me hungry already.
Question Author
Trust me, Maggie, it's making me hungry too...
Dauphinois are made with thinly sliced pots, cream simmered with garlic and a shallot if I have to hand. Butter dish, layer pots pour on cream, season, repeat, repeat, repeat. Finish with cream and I sometimes sprinkle over a breadcrumb & Parmesan mix to give a crispy finish.

TBH the recipe changes every time, resting is a must to avoid the volcanic eruption. My best efforts are made the day before and reheated.
Question Author
To what level do you fill the dish with cream? I find details even halfway causes eruption.
Aw, I was going to make Donny's egg custard this afternoon but somebody's nicked me nutmeg!
nom..will you adopt me ?? I WILL be good xx

Well we are going out tonight to order our new bed and we're upgrading to super king size. There's room for an extra, Minty xx
IN YER BED ?? GRIEF !!
Fray Bentos Minced beef and onion pie, chips and mushy peas. Pie from Morrisons on offer £1,
Apologies. May I interrupt and ask maggiebee for recipe - potato, cheese and onion pie. Sounds lovely.
Fray Bentos are rubbish. Not a patch on what they were 30 years ago.
I've got a chilli con carne in the slow cooker, it smells delicious. I'm serving it with polenta made with lots of butter and parmesan cheese. I have to take the dogs out for a walk in all this wind and cold so it will be something to look forward to when I come back.
Hhmmm, good question NoM, I think it's about 1/2 to 2/3 up the dish of spuds.

I'm an instinctive cook rather than a recipe follower.
Has anyone seen my nutmeg?
Smoked Haddock loin in white wine and butter, poached eggs and spinach. I am also baking some nice crusty bread to have with it.
I put spinach in mine dauphinoises.

JD... I wonder why you've posted not once but 3 times so far on this most invidious of threads.

Surely "What's for dinner tonight?" in latest posts was a dead giveaway?

I know it's a full moon, but I'm still puzzled...
Question Author
Me too, Eccles, but I fear I need some guidance on this one.

Hmm... Spinach... j'adore spinach.
