What To Have With Cauliflower Cheese?

I went to a lovely farm shop at the weekend and found a humongous cauliflower that I couldn't say no to!

Tonight's dinner is therefore, cauliflower cheese (which I'll make from scratch)... but what I have with it?

Crisp streaky bacon - I often put it over the top of the cauli. cheese, with sliced tomato and sprinkle the lot with grated cheese - then into the oven with it. It also goes extremely well with smoked, peppered mackerel and perhaps a light salad.

We usually have sausages with CC, last night though had it with a gammon joint and t'was very nice ..... should have gone with Sqad's idea though.

Yes Margo and macaroni cheese and chips too - there is a lovely pub on Islay that does the most amazing macaroni cheese and chips.

What to have with cauliflower cheese?? Anything, cauliflower cheese is food of the gods..I can never resist a gorgeous, huge, fresh cauliflower.. and goes with just about everything... maybe not fish though.
Sausages, gammon, bacon, beef, lamb, whatever. Didn't buy one this week and now feel the need.

I always have tinned tomatoes,a personal choice of course,but cheese with the tomatoes is great.

I've never thought about cauliflower cheese as a main course - to me it's a side.

Why not vamp up the CC with a good mature Stilton and serve it on the side of a peppered sirloin.

With a nice red to accompany.
