Smoked Salmon Use By Date.
14 Answers
Found some Smoked Salmon in the fridge, vacuum sealed, use by 11th October. Is this a conservative date and would it be safe to eat tomorrow?

I have in the past more than once and more than twice eaten smoked salmon, including from an already opened packet, after the best by and/or use before date(s). Raw fish is a known source of listeria but if it is there after the above dates then it was already there during the perceived "safe" period before that. Smoked salmon contains some added salt and thus has a degree of preservative in it.
