I am having a little birthday get together nothing to big or flashy and I'm catering for about 30 people, myself and OH are not drinkers although we will have a couple on the night, my question is how will I know how much drink to get and what? I dont know everyone well enough to know what they ALL drink.

Get in the basics red and white wine and some lager and soft - if anyone want anything different they can bring their own.
Most people will bring a bottle anyway as they will know that you don't drink yourself - so don't panic and have fun x

Thanks Islay regarding the wine what would you suggest is a good all rounder not to dry or to sweet.
I personally would go for an italian pinot grigio for the white and that is palatable and not offensive and a merlot for the red.
You don't want to spend a fortune fruity so see what the supermarket has on special offer x

Thank you for your help.
Chardonnay for the white and either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot for the red.
