oven, 200, two and half to three hours.
Cook low and slow
There are hundreds of different ways of making your stew but the way I do it is sear or brown the meat on very hot pan first to keep the juices and then cook really really slow, I cook it the first day and again the next day ever so slow, it's always delicious on the day after
Toss in seasoned flour and fry in small batches. Transfer to slow cooker with all the other ingredients and cook for around 7 to 8 hours.

If the residual sauce is too thin, thicken with a little cornflower water.
Same as Islay...low and slow.
Cook in pressure cooker for 15min.
Low and slow - 170 degrees for about 3 hours. Never the pressure cooker!
I actually do mine on the hob.
I did mine in the slow cooker on high for 5 hours and it just fell apart.
I'm sure NoMercy uses cornflour (not cornflower)! However, I find better results with arrowroot as a thickener.

Ale look into, Tilly.
Tilly has it right.

Use stewing steak.... use a bottle of Guinness as your liquid, and cook it very, very slowly !
As everyone has said, plenty of time. Slow cooker is ideal, otherwise 2 - 3 hrs and keep stirring and keep an eye on it. Don't forget the dash of Worcestershire sauce!
I use my microwave....10 mins on high and then 60 mins on low.

Thank's all.
would Lidl's ginger grizzly beer give it a bit of zing ?
Probably! I used Sticky Toffee pudding Ale in my stew, last night. It was very, very nice.
