Do Mozies Hate Marmite ?

Watching 'Great British railway journeys' on tv earlier, someone claimed that Marmite works as a good mosquito repellent.
Anyone know it this is true ?

I think it's the vitamin B in it that's supposed to repel mosquitoes. I tried vitamin B capsules instead but it didn't work for me. I was also told that garlic (equally hateful to me) repelled mosquitoes as well but garlic capsules didn't work for me either.

I don't think anything repels them. Some things are said to attract them though - people who expel more carbon dioxide for one. I have seen mosquitos fly past other people to get to me and I used to get bitten really badly. An Entomologist told me that everyone gets bitten but not everyone reacts and I don't react anymore (overkill, probably)

I am the same as bhg, tried every thing and nothing worked.
Sometimes Avons Skin So Soft works for me.
I don't know some scientist hasn't invented a jab to repel them.

it might work for mozzies, nothing works like a bug net. Don't forget what will work for a mozzie might not work for a midge

I tried the vit B thing and it didn't work for me but I am a mozzie magnet. I found Smidge works better than Skin So Soft.

citronella wax works if you apply a 3mm layer across the whole body, only down side is it's hard to get off and it stops your skin from being able to breathe not to mention how it cracks.. But they can't get past it. Nope.

I add a few drops of citronella or eucalyptus oil to my skin so soft.
I've been bitten so many times and suffered allergic reactions. My feet, eyes and numerous spots on my body have swelled up.

I know in Canada the recreational fishermen on the lakes put one of those conditioning tissues you put in the washing machine on their heads. I think Bounce springs to mind. I was told it's efficacy had it's merits but you will look like a Welsh Druid. :-)

Easy way to find out. Just smother your face in Marmite and see if any mozies come near!
On a serious note, mosquitoes have a very good sence of smell and Marmite has a very strong smell. BUT it does not smell like 'mosquito food'. So I am prepated to belive it would work.

A relative in Oz posted pics on Facebook of her 2y-o spooning Vegemite into his wee face and commented that it was a mozzie repellent.

Personally I'd rather scratch. :-)

Some people get bit others not, whatever is used. I’ve used a combination of ASS and Lemon Eucalyptus Oil from Holland & Barrett. Not cheap £10 for a small spray. Still get the odd bite.

Even if it does repel mozzies I bet it attracts wasps. So if you're OK with wasps you could try it.
