When I was growing up in the 1970s, hamburgers were exactly that - burgers of ham. But now, everything is a BEEFburger. I do miss the taste of hamburgers but cannot seem to source them anywhere. Any knowledge of sales points for hamburgers? And no, I don't really want to start making them myself before that suggestion surfaces.
Yes I remember them too and having the same quest as u to find them lol.... used to get them from frozen stores... would be HAMburgers and BEEFburgers packed next to each other.... albeit the ham ones wer not 100% ham but rather a mix of 60% ham 40% beef or ther abouts.... I preferred the taste of hamburgers but nowadays hamburgers/beefburgers are all just beef...
When I was growing up, Frankfurters were furters made of real Frank. Now they are mostly made of pork, though I think you can still get real Nigelfurters.
in my youth, a group I frequented referred to jumbo sausages as "donkeyburgers" - notwithstanding if there were really to be worthy of the name, they'd be over the side of the plate and halfway to the floor......
indirectly maybe, ichkeria - once they started diversifying into words that did describe the contents, like cheeseburger and lamburger, it may have seemed more sensible to do the same for beefburgers. The "ham" was already on the way out anyway, most people just call them "burgers".

Answer given to Gav1888 - not a history lesson on nomenclature, not facetious posturing on content, but at last someone else who does remember the item that I am talking about, with a agree-confirmation that everything now is a BEEFburger. Silver medal to TheChair for the amusing comment - must try and remember that and attempt to bring it into a conversation at some point.
