When ever I do anything in the microwave, the instructions usuallt say something like 'let stand for 1 minute' after cooking.

Why ?

Thanks in advance all.

I think that the food continues to cook for a short time after taking it out of the microwave.

Sometimes it tells you to stop the microwave after a certain amount of time and then start it up again. I can't be bothered with such complex cooking.
Sometimes it says leave for 1 minute for the plastic container it's in to regain its rigidity (softens on heating).
I hardly take notice of cooking instructions on microwave meals, maybe have a quick glance!
Just bung them in and cook until hot. Stir halfway through if need be but always eat straight after coming out.
No adverse side effects as yet.

Perhaps a bit of hair loss ;-)
nailit - I am like that with the airfryer. I like my food to be cooked almost to the point of cremation.

With a microwave oven, an extra minute can mean the difference between a hot meal and an explosion (or a very loud bang).
That's why they have instructions.

Can concur with that Wolf!
After years of poaching my breakfast eggs in the micro, its still touch and go most mornings...
Always ignore that instruction, can't be bothered to wait !
