How do you prefer them and when ?

I've never had a Welsh cake, Chip. If they are anything like teacakes, though, definitely hot with lots of butter, after a bracing walk.

I have them occasionally (cold) lovely!.
The label says they can be pan fried too, might give it a try.

Yes Bedknobs, like a thin buttery scone with currents.

I've tried branded and own-brand ones from Waitrose....the Waitrose ones were much better. I heat them on a griddle.

Just tried the pan-fry method, very nice too.

I think a blob of cream or jam would enhance them, might try that next time.

Hot. I still have an original Welsh Bake stone though haven't used it for many years. The shape of it always reminds me of a toilet lid.

You can have them hot ? When first baked I take it. Only ever had them cold. When ? Well whenever, sometimes when in Wales, in the cafe, with a cup of coffee.

My Mum used to make them - lush straight from the bake Stone with salty Welsh butter. Haven't had them for years, brings back happy memories

"She who must be obeyed" is Welsh born and bred(or is that bread?) and says that you can have them either warm or cold. Not hot mind, warm, with butter on. I find them a bit bland to be honest but love a slice of Bara Brith . Now that is a really nice "Welsh Cake" despite it being loosely speaking a bread. Flycatcher bread. Haha.
