Restaurants are usually businesses that want to run to make a profit for the owner. The cost of the food is only one of the many costs incurred by such a business. It is naive to think that a restaurateur would sell meals for cost. When eating out, the price you pay not only reflects the cost of the food, but a proportion of the costs incurred by the business plus a profit margin for the owner. To an extent, you also pay for the ambience of the place and the pleasure of eating there (not that it's always present).
You can buy three chickens for £10 but you don’t have to pay someone to cook them, you don’t have to pay someone to serve them, you don’t have to pay for someone to wash the dishes, you don’t have to pay someone to clean the tables and floors and you don’t have to pay business rates, VAT, etc. I hope you get my drift.
I cook. I eat out. I know when I am getting value for my money or I don't go back. A meal with a chicken breast? What would that be then. Chicken and chips in a basket or a well presented free range, reliably sourced and happy to die for you, lovingly prepared piece of chicken with a marvellous sauce and accompaniments at a pleasant establishment? Bargain if so.
