Hi ab'ers, I'm sitting here munching pickled gherkins, absolutely love them, however up until 5 years ago hated them! Have you a similar food you once hated but now love, or even the other way round?

I used to enjoy offal but now I can't stand the smell of it
Used to hate carrots, tomato sauce, blackberry type drinks and brown bread. Quite like them all now!
Avocado, tried them a few times but cannot see what anyone sees in them.

I'm the same with avocados... tasteless to me!
Cucumber - never really understood the allure of the cucumber. Vile stuff (yuk)! Can't even stand the smell of it.
Up until joining the army, I simply refused to try mushrooms. I thought they looked disgusting. However, I was persuaded to try a mushroom omelette and instantly realised what I had been missing out on.
I'm mich the same with gherkins Dagman. Always hated them, then a couple of subway salads later, I am happy to munch them from the jar!
Tinned spaghetti - hated it then and hate it still. Yet i can make a spag bol and really enjoy it.
Cabbage. I couldn't stand it when I was a child, unless it was liberally doused in mint sauce. Now, I love it.
Question Author
I would take gherkins out of bigmacs but now would miss them. I'm warming to green olives now too!
Exactly Dagman no taste and slimy. I have got to like olives but really onlly the black ones. I still find the green ones a bit bitter but still try and get used to them.
Can't think of anything I've had a turn around on. What was unpleasant when young, still is. I have managed to tolerate some things though. The obvious example is that although raw onion isn't great, having it with a very strong cheddar in sandwiches made it tolerable. Well tolerablish, up to a point.
When I was a youngster I hated any kind of fish, now I eat it at least twice a week.Strange how our tastes change over the years.
Cooked tomatoes. I couldn’t bear them when I was young, but love them now.

Wonder if its an early childhood experience thing, saying that, I don't know if gherkins or olives were common back then!
I used to adore roll-mops but can't face them now, give me awful indigestion
Dagman //, I don't know if gherkins or olives were common back then!//
Depends how old you are.
My grandad used to give us chunks of Fry's Chocolate Cream bars -he loved them but I hated them as I found the chocolate far too bitter. Yep -now I love them, especially with a cup of tea.

As I child I love bananas with tinned custard -now I can't even bare the smell.
