Looks Burnt But Isn't...

I put some leeks and potatoes in a non stick pan with some butter...this is for smoked haddock chowder.
I had it on low, covered...and forgot it...kind of. Looked at it 35 minutes later and it is now a very deep, dark reddy brown. Looks awful. But, it doesn't taste burnt. Weird.
I guess I should start over...when I go out for some more leeks. Brown chowder doesn't work...does it?
