I drink, mainly, fizzy drinks. I go through a lot of plastic bottles and I have limited access to recycling facilities.

I am thinking of asking Santa for a Soda Stream but I am a bit confused about what machine I should purchase.

I don't like fizzy water so the machine would only be used for adding syrup/flavouring. Which machine or range of machines should I look at?

I`ve got the Soda Stream Crystal as I wanted a glass bottle, not plastic. I tend to use it just for sparkling water but sometimes I add cordial. I`ve never tried the flavours that are made for soda streams.
I have one and use it all the time. I particularly like this company for cordials.

I have the Spirit Soda Stream. I wouldn’t be without it.
Sorry for typos, I’m onmy phone

237SJ - the glass/crystal one looks good but that isn't as important as getting one that is idiot-proof to operate.

RR - that is what confuses me, the Spirit Soda Stream says it is a fizzy water maker. I want a Pepsi Max and 7-up maker. I am not sure if there is a real difference between the different types of machines.

I've had to reduce by half the amount of Pepsi Max that I drink due to developing Kidney Disease (gone from 1litre per day to 500ml). I usually drink water for the rest of the day. 7-up is nice for a wee treat.

Maybe Santa will know which one I need - if only!
santa knows all, never fear.
My understanding it that any fizzy water maker will make what you want if you have the syrup to add to the fizzy water
I've just bought one. The cheapest! Seems OK.
Can you actually get Diet Pepsi syrup?
I've got the Iron Brew one from Mr Fitzpatrick's and it tastes exactly like the real thing.
Sorry wolf, but may I join the conversation while the Soda stream experts are around?

I have a Kenwood soda stream - about 40 - 50 years old that still works extremely well

Can any one tell me where I can get replacement bottles of gas, as I’m now on my last one, having stocked up well some years ago.
Kettledrum:
Are the gas bottles used by the model you've got any different to those made for modern ones? If not, this would seem to be the obvious place to purchase replacements:

I exchange mine at Argos £14.99
Thank you for answering Buenchico.

Unfortunately my bottles are considerably smaller than the modern ones. I’ve tried Lakeland, & my 2 children have both tried to get help / information from the places where they do their exchanges.

The wrapper says my cylinder contains 250g.
Thanks 237SJ

Do your cylinders contain 250g, as mine do? Or 410g which I think the modern ones do?
It would be wonderful if Argos had the older type.
kettledrum I had acquired one that hadn't been used from my deceased friend - was never used, son gave it to me and I could not get gas bottles for it, so sister bought me a new one. You just can't get the old bottles well as far as I am aware.

Wolf 63 - get yourself one - you mix the water until it is fizzy then add your favourite juice.

Argos Soda Stream. And you can also get your replacement gas bottles in Argos as well when you run out.
When I partied mine was used a lot to make sparkling water as a good few of my guests took sparkling water in their drinks so it was great then. Just treat yourself. They are not too expensive - around £40.
sorry Wolf - very expensive in Argos - I got mine in Lidl about 2 years ago. However I have just looked and Asda have them for £44.
read the ratings - one good and one bad - I must say you do have to push hard on my "new" one to get the fizz compared to the last one. but so worth it.
