Salt Liquorice.

Anybody here heard of SL? I remember it as little black pellets (this was in Holland in the late sixties) - weird combination, but very addictive. I remember being asked what I kept nibbling by a UK customs officer. In those balmy days he accepted my explanation. Good job he didn't inspect the little black pellets lodged between my toes!

Not only heard of...got some.
Brought back from Holland - they do like their liquorice, aniseed, cinnamon etc sweeties over there!

I've also got their version of Fishermans Friends...with the same salty liquorice flavour.

I used to go through tins of these a lot, locally made and quite strong liquorice - often cutting my thumb in the process.

winner, Mighty Imps is the sort of thing I remember, but there was this awful mix of salt in there with the liquorice. I couldn't stop after I had had a couple!.

^it isn't actually salt (sodium chloride) used, but ammonium chloride (common name is sal ammoniac)...hence the Dutch call this flavour "salmiak".
