What food did you enjoy eating most this Christmas. ( not drink) I bought a small joint of brisket. I popped it in a thick freezer bag first and boiled it for an hour, then into a hot oven and roasted it over. Yummy!

Sorry, I was asking about Pukka pies.
I didn't know it was a crime Lady CG? Hubby loves Pukka Pies. Me, I'm not so keen, but chicken and bacon is rather nice!!
It was a joke relating to your typo, Little.
Lottie !!
For Pat:
(Serves one. Simply scale up as required):

Open a small can of pilchards in tomato sauce:
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/254863672

Empty the contents into a suitably-sized casserole dish.

Remove the bones and then mash the pilchards together to form a layer across the bottom of the dish.

Generously dust with freshly ground black pepper.

Open a small can of new potatoes (or boil some new potatoes if you're not as lazy as me). Slice them so that they're about half a centimetre thick and use the slices to form a layer on top of the pilchards.

Use that pepper grinder again!

Now cut some mature cheddar cheese into slices (roughly a few millimetres thick) and use them to form a third layer in the casserole dish.

Reach for the pepper grinder again!

Spread a thin layer of English mustard over the top of the cheese. (I find the easiest way is to use one teaspoon to take the mustard out of the jar and then a second teaspoon to transfer the mustard onto the cheese).

Leave the lid off the casserole dish and heat in an oven at Gas Mark 6 (200C) for about half an hour. (The exact timing doesn't matter. Nothing is actually being cooked. You're simply heating everything through and browning the top).

Serve with sliced green beans (and perhaps some sweetcorn).

It probably sounds absolutely revolting but, if you like your food really packed with flavour, I can assure you that it's delicious!
(Several AB members have tried it and the comments have always been positive).
Thanks for the recipe Chris. I like pilchards but only ever have them with chips.
I'll try that in the new year minus the pepper and the mustard as I can only eat very bland food and that would burn my tongue off.
I love roast potatoes, always have done. Done in sunflower oil rather than goose fat though.
LadyCj. I was joking back trying to imagine ***** in a chicken and bacon pie
Barsel, pukka pies are best of the chesper shop pies, and often reduced on special offer. We onlybuy them when on specisl offer and put them in the freezer.
And Chris thank you. Battery now running out.
I particularly liked the Yorkshire puddings that my sister included in a roast beef dinner which she brought to me on Sunday. I found it unusual that she would include them as it is not a "traditional" Canadian dish. But they were quite tasty.
>>> Battery now running out

I feel like that most days too ;-)
I may give that a go Chris, but use mackerel instead of pilchards (I have some smoked mackerel in the freezer). Sounds yummy!
Every bit of my Christmas dinner. No cauliflower or broccoli this year. Swapped them for courgette and butternut squash...went down a treat.

Me?Toffee coated Butterkist popcorn.I must have ate about 8 big bags of the stuff in the last four days.None left. Will be popping down to Tescos shortly for more.
The turkey crown it was delicious
Warm croissant for breakfast.
Mashed potatoes with butter.
we had running all day buffets on Christmas Day at a friends and at ours on Boxing day..lots of tasty treats that would otherwise not have been tried...slow cooked gammon I did for my day of hosting seems to have been the most remarked on....and it was all quickly gobbled up before I had a chance to try it...lol..so will get another this week and make sure I sample it this time..lol the brie in cranberry and leek in a filo pastry ring was delicious though !
I will answer how I always answer on these threads.

Cauliflower cheese.

I LOVE it!
