obviously Mushy peas
if it's Cod in batter
Dandelion and Burdock, closed followed by Vimto and Irn Bru. Having had experience in a Chippy 'up north', these were always the three best sellers.
Up in Yorkshire, it's usually tea. Me, I like a Magners.
sorry misread the question , a hot mug of tea but must brewed in a tea-pot
From childhood same as Hazi, dandelion and burdock
Definitely a cup of tea.
A glass of prosecco, obviously.
Question Author
I ask, because I'm suffering from a serious complaint known as 'FCWS' (fish & chip withdrawal symptoms).
I shall soon be returning to England after an absence of 6 years, & I've invited some friends out to an evening at a pub, to be followed by a fish & chip supper.

Many years ago a group of crazy (other) friends & I went out every Thursday for night bike rides to a variety of Gloucestershire pubs in all weathers all year round, ending up with a bought fish & chip supper in someone's abode.

We experimented in trying to find the perfect accompaniment to drink with the fish & chips; beer wasn't right, of the wines we tried, champagne came the nearest, but in the end tea with milk & sugar prevailed.

Other suggestions welcomed :0)
Dandelion & Burdock!

Not sure whether that’s available in Germany tho.
Oh I see, you mean when you’re visiting. Try it.
In the pub it’s Guinness for me. Failing that it would be Coke. That’s the only time I drink Coke. Not in Ireland of course. Not being able to get a pint of G here would be a crime.
Diet coke or Pepsi Max, must be ice cold.

I like Fish and Chips, but mainly I like the batter. Up here, in the frozen north you could have a deep fried Mars Bar for dessert. I have not tried one, I am afraid that I may get addicted to them.

Enjoy your trip back home.

Also agree with B&B, Vinto, Tizer.
as Gromit says, ginger beer, though I like to add a dash of rum, to show I'm grown up
The mention of Dandelion and Burdock always takes me back to Heysham as a kid in the late 60's
There used to be a man who operated a chair weighing machine type thing, and next door to him was a shop that sold the most delicious homemade D&B. What I wouldn't give now for a bottle of the same, it was out of this world.
A cuppa.
Water.
Fizzy water Perrier perhaps.
I was going to say a nice cold pint of John Smith's Smooth, then i remembered that as soon as greasy lips touch the alcohol, it loses it's head and resembles the kind of beer they serve in the Queen Vic.
So i'm with Jourdain and the Magners.
