1970's seasoning?

This stems from a bunch of us more mature ladies having a discussion at work today. Does anyone remember a seasoning you could buy to sprinkle on your food instead of salt & pepper in the 1970's? It wasn't a salt substitute and if I remember rightly it was highly flavoured and possibly a bit spicy. I know this all must read a bit vague, but it's driving us insane not being able to remember the name of the stuff. Any thoughts?

they introduced a few varieties in chippies - cheese and chive, spicy, etc i remember them well

there are varieties of seasoning available now in supermarkets which you could probably use - i may try it myself actually...

there are also site on the net full of retro foods etc

Used to sprinkle Schwartz "Steak Spice" on cheese and tost in the early 70s. Any help?

Thanks woofang, as soon as I saw the words Knorr Aromat I knew that was the product.You've made a bunch of middle age ladies very happy! I will be hotfooting it down to the supermarket tomorrow.

you are welcome. Do be careful though as it has (or used to have msg in its ingredients which is why i had to stop using it
