I got food poisoning from a take away. Should I report it, and who to? It is in the same town as a young boy died of e-coli a few months ago, so it is a lively issue.

you need to contact environmental health services? how are you now are you still suffering if so it would be helpful for you to take a stool sample. you poor thing jedimistress i do wish you well x

Yes, you should definitely report it tothe Environmental Health Dept of your local Borough Council. You'll find the phone number in the Yellow Pages. But in fairness, I think you should also report it to the outlet from which you bought your take-away as it's always possible you picked up the food poisoning from another source without realising it.

You cannot say for definite you have bacterial food poisoning until a stool sample has been submitted to your local practice. This will confirm whether it is still in your system.

If it was viral or chemical it will have passed through your body in a few days.

Your local Environmental health office are unlikely to do a full inspection of the premises on the basis of one person's symptoms.

If you had diarrhoea approximately 12-24 hours AFTER eating food from the premises then it is possible it came from there (tho not certain). Sickness only after 2-3 hours of consumption then yes, especially if you had rice.

Otherwise diarrhoea after a few hours is very unlikely to be bacterial food poisoning.

Remember ~2/3 of food poisoning occurs in the home!

I agree with Wendy!I had compesation coz I caught ecoli but I survived It!You should report to the food standards agency and your local council.
P.S I caught ecoli after eating chinease
You mean Chinese.
I work at the Food Standards Agency, dealing with food hygiene and you would need to report the matter to your local environmental health officer who would then investigate the matter further.
